Te Ripo O Hinemata Wetlands
Collecting and nurturing the seed
The best way to ensure that the plants survive is to collect the seeds from the Wetlands.
They are then taken to Mana Island where they are propagated in partnership with DOC.
Members of the whanau travel over to the island to plant seed and and repot seedlings.
These seedlings will eventually be hardened off then transported back to where the seeds were gathered and planted.
